Rachel is doing great! She has been a wonderful addition to our household in Athens. She has learned to sit, lay down, and jump in a matter of two weeks! She also just turned 6 months this Monday, and is still growing! There are lots of other dogs around our area and she loves to go outside and play with them, she is constantly sitting by the door wanting to go outside and play. While I'm at class, she is able to stay in our screened in porch outside and she loves playing with all 10 chew toys we bought her (did I mention she is spoiled?) Her favorite is a toss up between the rope and her kong, I think she prefers the kong but only when there is a treat inside it. Thanks again for everything, she is a great puppy!

Molly is doing
great! We adopted Molly on May 1st at the pet
adoptions at Petsmart. We knew that she was the
dog for us after an hour of walking the store
and petting her. Not wanting to make a hasty
decision, we decided that we would go home and
think about making her part of our family. We
only got as far as our car in the parking lot
when we went to go back and adopt her.
Molly had been at the pound before she was taken
into foster care. Molly loves to go on walks,
going to her training classes, playing Frisbee,
riding in the car and being petted by everyone
she meets. Thanks Fayette Humane Society for
our new member of our family!

We adopted Cher
(now Maggie) on February 27, 2010 when she was
just 6 weeks old. She has been the best addition
to our little family and we are so grateful to
share each day with her! Tomorrow she will be 7
months old and I just wanted to share with you
how much she has grown and how beautiful she is.

Andrea is now known
as Tarby. She is GREAT and we love her. She's
the best puppy I've ever seen. House training
is going well. She and Vega have become nearly
inseparable. She even gets Vega (old as she is)
to really run around and play. Today, they
ripped the head off of her first toy. Luckily
we have lots more. She loves the water. We had
a little blow up pool on the back porch for the
kids to play in. I let Tarby out and was
shocked as I watched her jump right in and sit
down. She doesn't want to get too close to the
real pool, though. The first night we tried to
let her sleep in our room, though not in the
bed, and she just cried and cried. So, we put
her in to sleep with Vega, on their beds in one
of the bathrooms and never heard another peep
from her. They snuggle together every night,
and she sleeps all night long with no
accidents. We bought her a bed, but during the
day she just wants our bean bag. So, what can I
say, it's hers! She is fantastic with the
kids! She doesn't even jump on them or "play
bite" them when they are playing. At night,
after the kids are asleep and it is quiet, I sit
on the floor and she climbs across my lap and
lays for her belly rubs. That's our snuggle
time. She really is amazing!
Thank you for
helping us find her!

"Hi there. She is doing good and is a great
addition to our family! She is doing well
bonding with our dog and cat and has
exceeded our expectations! She has also
made friends with our friend's dogs and many
other dogs at the dog park! She is doing
well with the housetraining and is already
sleeping in the bed with us. :) We are
still working on the biting/chewing, but
that will come in time as with any puppy.
We have renamed her Grace, which is very
fitting because she is so clumsy with her
big feet and not so graceful. We took her
to the vet on the Monday after we adopted
her and they had all good things to say!
Thank you so much for doing what you do and
for giving us the opportunity to adopt such
a wonderful puppy, whom otherwise would not
have had a chance to survive. We love her
so much already!!";
Thanks again!

We wanted to let you know how our adoption
of Sophie, a year old boxer, has gone since
we adopted her in April. She is part
of a three dog family, a five year old male
boxer and a thirteen year old male Jack
Russell terrier. Sophie has really
gotten the other dogs active and playing.
She won't quit pestering them until they
play with her many times a day. The
humans in our family are thrilled with her;
she is truly a love. Our cats are the
only ones in the household that were wary of
her arrival in the family, but the cats and
Sophie seemed to have settled in fairly well
now. We want to thank you for helping
us bring Sophie into our family; she has
brought us much joy in just a few months.

I adopted "Daisy Mae" (now "Maizy") about
three weeks ago. I wanted to send a picture
of her in her new home, and one of her
playing with her new big sister. The two of
them play, and play, and PLAY! I have them
both trained to a new in-the-ground electric
fence with the collars, so they are able to
run all over the yard (and dig in my flower
beds!). Maizy is a delightful little dog,
and Maggie (her big "sister") and I have
already fallen in love with her. She can
"sit", "down", and "come", and she is fully
housebroken now.
Thanks for your part in completing this
little family!

When we saw Tessy light up and play with our
next door neighbor's dog, we knew we had
to get her a friend. When we found
out that Tessy and Tappy were old
friends, we couldn't resist.
The two of them are non-stop action!
Thanks again,
Frank and Ann

Teddy Bear with Kaitlyn,
Sophie and Emily |
Just wanted to pass along a picture of Teddy Bear
and his new family. We adopted him back in
April and he has been the best dog. He loves
the girls and plays with our 2 cats. He loves
car rides and has a best friend who lives next door
who keeps his social calendar full. So far he
sits on command and has learned to "shake". He
really is a great addition to the family!

I fell in love with
this dog the first time I saw her at the pet
adoption. I drove my mother up the wall
begging relentlessly for her. My mother
arranged secretly to get her for my birthday.
Shelly (now Ellie Mae Biscuit Eater, which I was
not responsible for) fit right in with
our family and other pets. She's very
comfortable here, as if it was her home since
she was born. Although her profile said she
preferred to be an 'only child', so to say, she
has had no trouble getting along with goats,
cats, and a weeny dog. We love this
little dog and I'm so happy my mother gave in to
my constant whining. Thank you so much for
introducing us to Ellie."
Best
wishes,
Elise and Ellie

I thought you might like to hear how Barron is
doing. He is doing so great. His fear of
strangers is almost completely gone. He is a
very happy and healthy NY city dog. He has
mastered obedience training & even some tricks
with a hula hoop. We go to the park almost
every night, so he can run and play with his
doggy friends. We adopted him a little sister
about 2 months ago. Betsy is a 5 yr old Boston
Terrier, so she's actually more like his big
sister. They follow each other everywhere,
inside the apartment and outside. We are so
glad Barron & Betsy came into our lives! Thanks
again for making that possible with Barron.
Best,
Stacie & Patrick

A bit of history......Below is a Happy Tail from
the family who adopted Jesse, a puppy found
wandering with other dogs. Jesse had a badly
infected eye that had to be removed and we all
at the FCHS had a special place in our hearts
for this wonderful boy. He found the perfect
home.
"Jesse has been doing wonderfully. He has become
a part of our family, and adapted very quickly
after we brought him home. He loves lazy days
laying around the house, running outside
(especially after sticks, though we're still
working on him actually bringing them back). He
does enjoy the occasional stolen sock out of the
dirty clothes hamper, but is getting much better
about it...
He adores Cody (14 months) and lays down next to
his highchair every morning in hopes that Cody
will feed him his baby food. I suppose I should
be happy that someone likes it :)
This past February we decided that it was time
to take a weekend vacation, but did not want to
leave Jess behind. Through the internet we were
able to find the number one dog beach in FL and
in the top 10 for the US. We packed our bags and
our bones and headed out for Cape San Blas, FL.
My husband's parents met us down there with
their Feist mix, Peanut, and we had a WONDERFUL
time. We took Cody and Jess down to the beach
(though it was still too chilly to get in the
water) and walked for what seemed to be miles.
We pulled Cody in the wagon, and were able to
let Jess play with a couple friendly retriever
mixes. It seems like there were shells for
miles, and very few people... Jess loved hanging
out on the balcony off of the master suite in
the condo... We can't wait to go back and do it
again. We were also surprised at how well Jesse
did during the drive down... He slept most of
the way.
We really appreciate all you and the humane
society did for Jess. He's a part of our family,
and we wouldn't want it any other way."

A very happy ending to a
rough start in life!
Axel was the puppy that
broke his hip during
birth and we kept him in
hopes that he would
someday walk. At 9
weeks the most wonderful
family fell in love with
him and adopted him.
He's so sweet and doing
very well. You would
never know he had a
broken hip. He loves
his dog sister, Liberty,
and his human brother,
Colby, and he tries to
love the cat but that
doesn't go over so well.
He's spoiled rotten and
couldn't be in a more
loving home. |

Many of us remember Briar Rose, a sweet, petite
kitty who was adopted by Celia Pazenski, a new
arrival in Peachtree City. She gave us this photo
of the now six month old "Rose" and said she is a
sweet happy and playful kitten with a great
personality. She loves to romp with other kitties
(We're happy to say Celia is now one of our cat
fosters).
While Rose is still petite, she's a kitty with a big
heart!

"Here's Daisy. We got her about 6 months
ago from the Fayette County Humane
Society. She has accepted us with open
arms, especially the kids. She's very
energetic and loves to be treated as one
of the kids. Who can see the
difference? In this picture she's
playing hide and go seek with my
grandson in the pile of leaves I stacked
up for them."

Jackson and his two sisters were found orphaned at just 9 weeks
old. Luckily, they "found their way" to the FCHS where they
would be cared for until homes were found for them. Both his
sisters were adopted into the same home leaving Jackson who was
very untrusting and anti-social. However, after weeks of love
and attention from foster mom, Christie, he had a change of
heart and decided the human world wasn't so bad...and being a
lap kitty had its perks. Jackson then hit the adoption jackpot
and was adopted by a lady who adores him and spoils him rotten
as you'll see below in the super pictures and commentary by his
new mom.
Jackson was pretty timid at first, of course.

Then
he started to play by himself.

And
with others.

And
now at 18 months old, he is a sweetheart for sure!

I am sending a picture of Madi Lee whom I
adopted in April 2008. She and her litter
mates were rescued when they were two weeks old from
the steps of a trailer. She enjoys her
pampered lifestyle and spends her days following me
around, birdwatching from the comforts of sunny
spots inside, and playing with her toys. Good luck with your adoptions as the kitten season
approaches, may they all find good homes!
Thanks for my kitten!

Isa (Camilla) is doing
great! It will be a week on Saturday since I've had
her and she's been my
little
angel so far! She fits perfectly in with my
house and lifestyle. Attached are pics of her. Last
night was her first bath and she handled it like a
pro! Love having her and I'll keep you posted with
all of her promising updates.
Thanks again!

Sydney's new mom, Nikki, wrote us that Sydney
(formerly Molena) is doing great. She thought the
name "Sydney" was a better fit for the rambunctious
puppy's personality. Nikki says Sydney is really
smart and will do any trick if a treat is the end
result!

We adopted Delano a few weeks ago. I just
wanted to give you an update on Delano and
thank you so much for fostering him! He is
such a wonderful dog and we are truly
enjoying him. He is very well behaved and I
know his fosters must have done a lot of
work with him. He has such a great
personality and loves to play and run. We
are happy to have him in our family.
We'll stay in touch and send pics every now
and then if you are interested. I have
attached a picture of us. Thanks again and
we hope you are doing well!

I adopted Jasper last spring. Jasper is doing very
well and is now ruling the house. Otis, our older
male cat, took to him very well…he has made Jasper a
great Mr. Mom. We have discovered Otis is site
impaired as he is slightly cross eyed…so Jasper has
been awesome for Otis. He has encouraged Otis to
want to go outside on the back patio and explore a
bit. Otis was never comfortable ever going
outside until he saw that Jasper liked to go out.
We don’t allow them outside unless we are out with
them as I don’t want anything to happen to them and
Jasper tends to like being where ever we are. He
even likes to walk the edge of the hot tub when we
are sitting in it. He has a fascination for water.
I had bought him one of those long furry tails and
for months everywhere he went he would drag that
tail with him. It was quite funny watching him. He
has quite a personality and is so loving and for
that I have
to thank you. He is very well adjusted and loves
to be with me and Ken. He sleeps on the pillow
between us most nights and on cold nights he
snuggles down between us.
Oh…we have discovered that Jasper is a Maine Coon.
He has furry tufts coming out from his between his
feet and his fur is quite long and silky. Ken says
he looks like a teddy bear that has gone through
three generations of kids. His tail is longer
than his body and is quite full in the winter
months. I have done quite a bit of reading about
them and this is all indicative of his breed. I was
very happy and surprised at this discovery as I had
originally wanted a Maine Coon. I just couldn’t
afford to buy one. I want to thank you once again
for taking such good care of him when he was a
kitten. We could tell he had been very loved and
very well taken care of. We love him so much!

Thank
you so much for Henry!
Henry
has met a lot of new friends and there is never a
shortage of someone to visit with at home. He likes
his fluffy new bed from the Tractor Supply store and
does well crated at night.
We got
him a purple Jolly Ball, which he likes already and
some more fun toys. He is great about taking his
medicine and he is eating well. He does like to go
"on patrol" around the house, sniffing everything,
like his foster mom said. Our boys absolutely love
him. Our oldest son took him on a field trip to his
girlfriend's house to play with her dogs. They
wanted to keep him, of course. He went on a walk to
another friend's house last night. They also wanted
to keep him.
The
UPS guy is a family friend and he was shocked by his
brand new friend, Henry, greeting him at our door.
So, Henry was able to socialize with a delivery guy
and did very well. Our last dog loved UPS but
barked at
FedEx,
so we will see...
Thank
you again and take care,
Michelle

[Note: Jesse (formerly "Banjo") is one of our special boys
who had to have a leg removed. We're thrilled he's doing so
well!]
"Jesse is doing terrific! He
is such a loving and sweet dog! He enjoys following our cat
around the house. He is adjusting to our floors and does
his “backup” routine when changing surfaces – it is quite
entertaining to watch! At night he sleeps on a dog bed next
to our bed and has slept all night both nights with no
problems. He wakes up happy and ready to have fun! I took
him to see Dr. Price yesterday as he had a sore on the side
of his leg. Dr. Price said it was caused by too much
licking. So he is on medications for that. Dr. Price and
everyone at the clinic were so happy to see Jesse!
I attached a couple
pictures of Jesse for you to enjoy!"

My brother, Eric, and his family wanted a lap cat with
personality. It was worth the 7 hour drive to bring them
one of the kittens we had fostered since she was 4 weeks
old. They are very happy with their new kitten, Persee
(formerly called Persephone), and I am relieved to know
that another foster has gone to a great home. As you can
see from the picture, Persee and Rocket, her new dog
brother, are best buddies.

"I
just wanted to let you know that Cowboy (formerly "Kane") is
doing great! He and Lucey have been running around the
yard all afternoon (getting muddy of course). He loves chasing
her and she hasn't shown any aggression towards him at all. It
is going way better than I ever could have imagined! Attached
is a picture of him with my husband! Thanks for everything!" |

Just thought I would send you an update on Pandora. We
renamed her Isabella (Izzy). She is healthy and happy. She
is quite a smart puppy - she is almost house and crate
trained, she has learned to sit and stay (when she isn't too
excited), and she gets along great with her sister, Lucy.
She does get into everything and is quite stubborn, but we
love her and take her on walks to get rid of some of her
energy. She went to the vet yesterday and she is already 13
lbs. Thanks for letting us adopt her...she is a perfect
addition. ;

"I had a Chihuahua when I was in college. I looked for one
when I got my almost 10-year-old rescue doggy, a mix terrier
(Jessy), but didn't find one with the face I wanted. My
daughter told me about the adoption at Tack Trolly. When I
saw her I just knew she was mine. Her name was Culie, but I
changed it to Kloe. She knows her name now, and fits right
in with our household. Kloe and Jessy get along great! She
goes on walks with me, Jessy and my daughter's Shih Tzu and
Lab/Border Collie mix just fine. I love her to death!"

A few months, I went to pick my Boo
up from Doggie Day Care of Fayetteville, unsuspecting that my
family was going to grow! When I walked in, Ms Betty said,
"Oh, Heather! You have to meet Boo's new friend!
He's a Fayette County Humane Society dog. His name is
Buddy. He's been here for a week or so and has been very
lethargic and unhappy. But when Boo Bear came in, he
started dancing in circles around him." In comes this
fluffy bright-eyed little sprite, just a ball of fur and love.
After thinking about it for a day or two, I thought I'd give the
little guy a chance. I was a little skeptical at first
about how my spoiled 7-year-old-boy would accept a new dog in
his house, even a "friend from school." But I think
because they met in a neutral zone and had a couple of days to
become friends first, the transition from playmates to brothers
went extremely well! So big hugs and thanks to both
Fayette County Humane Society and Doggie Day Care!
